Annual events of Nepal Earthquake 2015 (Technical conferences )

Nepal has experienced numerous large earthquakes in the past. Recently, Central Nepal was violently rocked on 25th April 2015 by the Mw 7.8 Gorkha Earthquake. This earthquake is the devastating one after the 1934 Bihar-Nepal Earthquake (Mw 8.2). According to information of Ministry of Home Affairs the Gorkha Earthquake reportedly killed more than 8800 people and injured more than 22000. After the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake, different national and international research organisations under took a number of research projects to better understand this earthquake. It is very important to share the findings of the research works among scientists, engineers, planners and policy makers. These findings could be incorporated as an input to seismic hazard and risk assessment. Understanding of earthquake hazard and earthquake process is a must in an attempt to mitigate the adverse impact of destructive earthquakes for a developing country like Nepal. The workshop is expected to offer a forum to share findings and progress of research activities carried out so far and will pave the road map for safer community.
